This rug belongs to the class of Bidjar rugs. Bidjar are particularly robust and tightly knotted by hand with a special Persian double knot. The knots are pressed tightly together in a separate work step. This creates a pile that is knotted so tightly and sturdily that the fine threads stand vertically upwards. This not only creates a beautiful and fine look, but also makes this carpet extremely robust and very easy to clean. A Bidjar is virtually indestructible.
